OKEHAMPTON Golf Club held its last Seniors Open of the year in perfect conditions on Monday, September 16.

The format of the day was a three ball two to count stableford. The overall winners were Steve Rice, Chris Pike and Phil Atherton with 84 points; in second place were Ross Medlyn, Martyn Gannon and John Scarrow with 81 points; and in third were Rod Milsom-Smith, Steve Heyes and Hugh Bruce also with 81 points.

The best visitor prize was won by Chris Norman, Geoff Briggs and Neil Hammond (Saunton) with 80 points, and the second-best visitor was won by Martin Read, Stephen Ebdon and Wayne Ebdon (Fingle/Warren) with 78 points.

On Saturday, September 21, a large field entered the club’s Four Ball Better Ball Open competition.

The overall winners were Matthew Smith and Scott Amos (Saunton Artisans) with 48 points; in second place were Barry Ratcliffe and Paul Rogers (Okehampton) with 47 points; and in third were Corey Holiday and Nic Finch (Okehampton) with 44 points on countback from in fourth Neil Paul and Dominic Bancroft (Great Torrington) with 44 points.

The best visitor prize was won by Lee Cockwill and Zac Saunders (Great Torrington) with 43 points; in second were Daniel Copp and Peter Andronik (Great Torrington) with 42 points.

The best Okehampton/ combination prize was won by Tim Butler and Reggie Wonnacott with 43 points, and in second were Richard Johnson and Adrian Tilley also with 43 points.
