THE 8th annual Sandford Slammer cycle in aid of local charities took place on Sunday, October 6, starting and ending at Sandford Cricket Club.
Those taking part could choose either a 59 or 36 mile route.






Organiser Chris O’Connor said that both routes presented their own challenges with some serious climbs to overcome but awaiting them at Withleigh Village Hall was home-produced cakes.
He explained that it was another successful event which this year raised a total of £2,724.28, this comprising of entries received, pasty/cake sales and personal donations.


Chris explained: “This will be split equally between seven worthy recipients, Marie Curie, Hospiscare, Friends of Sandford School, Sandford Scouts, East Village Defib Appeal, Crediton BSL and Kiers Page, each receiving £389.20.”

He thanked sponsors, volunteer helpers, the local cycling community, those who donated.
A total of £20,350 has been raised from the “Slammers” to-date.
