THE ladies of Downes Crediton Golf Club played their Spring Meeting on Thursday, June 13.

Although now officially into Summer, the Spring Meeting had been rained off on two previous occasions, so it was good, at last, for members to be able to play.

There was a light shower during the competition, but thankfully the rain stayed away until players had finished.

The course was in excellent condition and thanks are extended to the greenkeepers for all their hard work.

Ladies also enjoyed light refreshments following golf so thanks to Bev and her team for supplying that.

The Spring Meeting is a medal competition, with entries for an 18 hole and a 9-hole competition.

A presentation was held following the competition, with winners being presented with their trophies.

The 9-hole competition was won by Linda Gill with a nett 38; she was also presented with the Cynthia King Robinson Cup for the best nett 9-hole score on the day.

Di Parsons was second, also with 38 points but was beaten on the last three.

Lyn Parry won the Millar Bowl for the best nett score over 18 holes on the day, a creditable 71.

Joyce Gilg came in second with 72, beating Shirley Stunell, also with 72, into third place with a better back nine.

Shirley Stunell came in with the best scratch score of the day of 91.

Well done to all ladies who played, but particularly to the winners.  The day was enjoyed by all.
