LAST weekend, June 1-2, some children from Hayward's Primary School had the pleasure of taking part in a Super Sunday experience before the Exeter Chiefs Women played Leicester Tigers Women in the Premiership.

We enjoyed a backstage tour of the stadium, trained on the actual pitch and were the guard of honour as the teams ran out.

We were lucky enough to have several international players run our training sessions too, including Claudia Macdonald (England), Panashe Muzambe (Scotland) and Rachel Johnson (USA).

We had a fantastic time and should have lost our voices cheering and starting the “oggie” chants as we saw Chiefs win 59-27 with lots of tries and excitement. Thanks all for representing Hayward's so well.

We now look forward to Chiefs coming in to deliver tag to our Year 3 and Year 5 children this term to keep our connections with them as strong as ever.

This weekend, June 8-9, Hayward's were invited to bring a tag rugby team to play at the home of England Rugby before the Premiership final between Northampton Saints and Bath Rugby.

We were welcomed into the “Live Room” and prepared for our experience by Tom and his team from Exeter Chiefs who have delivered lessons in developing character in keeping with the core values of rugby (teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship).

Having really enjoyed the lessons and shown such a positive attitude, we were chosen to attend the showpiece in London.

The children got to play on the actual pitch with a team from Twickenham School. Some exceptional rugby was played, we scored lots of tries and we certainly enjoyed the whole experience which was finished off with tickets to the fantastic final.

As you can see from the smiles on the children's faces, a fantastic time was had by all, even Miss Bolt who scored a try!
