PEOPLE enjoyed eating free soup and listening to extracts from books when they went along to The Bookery’s weekly “Soup and Stories” event on Friday, March 14.

The session at the community-owned bookshop in Crediton featured volunteer Lucy Berridge reading from Storyland: A New Mythology of Britain by Amy Jeffs, a new translation of Beowulf by Maria Dahvana Headley and The New Dragon Book of Verse. There was also time for discussion.

The soup was provided by The Turning Tides Project, a Crediton-based community interest company that helps people with learning disabilities and autism.

The new initiative was launched in January and is held at the bookshop every Friday from 12.30pm to 2pm.

All are welcome to go along with no booking required.
