A “LIVING history” event and commemorative church service are set to be held in Sampford Courtenay for the 475th anniversary of the Prayer Book Rebellion.
Members of the public can go along to experience life in the Tudor era on Saturday, August 17 from 11am to 5pm.
There will be a “living village” on the village green showing a variety of Tudor crafts, an archery display, demonstrations of how Tudor soldiers and ladies would dress and displays of armour and artefacts in the church rooms.
There will also be a chance to join soldiers marching along some of the routes the rebels would have taken in 1549, as well as a barbecue at the New Inn from 1pm and live music from 3pm to 7.30pm.
A commemorative church service will be held the following day, Sunday August 18 at 6pm.
