7.30pm - Eyes down for Sandford Parish Hall Meat Bingo, Sandford Parish Hall, for hall funds.

8pm - Dartmoor Folk Festival, to 11th, ceilidhs, dances, folk for all, workshops, ramble on Dartmoor, church service, Grand Dart-i-moor Fayre, step dance and broom dance championships, music and song sessions, concerts, shanty singers, children’s entertainer, South Zeal, Okehampton, some free events, see www.dartmoorfolkfestival.org.uk .

SATURDAY 10

2pm - St Lawrence Patronal Weekend, St Lawrence Chapel, Threshers, Crediton, stalls, teas, 11th - 6pm - Evensong with the West Gallery Quire.

2pm - Sampford Courtenay Flower Show, Village Hall, refreshments, auction, raffle.

2.30pm - Cheriton Bishop Summer Show opens to the public, Cheriton Bishop Village Hall, classes for adults and children, cookery, crafts, fruit, vegetables and flowers. Schedules from Janet Jeffery (01647 24414), prize giving at 4pm, refreshments.

FRIDAY 16

7pm - Prayer Book Rebellion 475th anniversary Walk, participants should meet at Crediton Museum at 7pm on Friday, for the one-mile walk.

SATURDAY 17

10am - 1pm - Crediton Farmers Market, Town Square.

11am to 5pm - and 18th, Sampford Courtney, go along and experience life in the Tudor Times, Village Green and Church Rooms, archery display, display of armour, dress the lady, barbecue, live music, living village, Tudor crafts, soldiers march, and 6pm on August 18, Commemorative Church Service.

2.30pm - Spreyton Flower, Craft and Produce Show opens to the public, children’s sports, cream teas, a tombola and a raffle, auction of produce 5pm, proceeds from the day will go to the Royal National Institute of Blind People, Cancer Research UK and the Spreyton Village Trust.

6.45pm - Doors Open for Eyes Down at 7.30pm for Meat Bingo, Boniface Centre, Crediton, in aid of Holy Cross Church.

WEDNESDAY 21

10am to 12 noon - Crediton and District U3A, Boniface Centre, talk by Air Commodore Andrew Lambert, “Loking at parallels between Peter the Great and Vladimir Putin”, £1.50, includes refreshments.

FRIDAY 23

7pm - Open-air double-bill of Shakespeare plays is coming up at Lapford Mill, Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, hot and cold food available as well as a bar, total runtime is two hours including a 20-minute interval. 

SUNDAY 25

1pm - Car Boot Sale, Lords Meadow Leisure Centre overflow car park, sellers from 12 noon, Crediton United AFC, More information, please text 07807 058549.

Bank Holiday

2pm - Sandford Summer Show opens to the public, Sandford Parish Hall, displays and exhibits, stalls including plant stall, prize draw, tea and homemade cakes on sale.

FRIDAY 30

10.30am-12 noon - Going for a Sing, Boniface Centre, singing for fun and fellowship, all welcome.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

10am-1pm - Craft Fair, Boniface Centre, 20 local crafters selling a wide variety of items, refreshments, free parking, accessible venue.

6.30pm - for 7pm start, Quiz and Supper, ham or quiche with salad (vegetarian option), bar and raffle, book teams of four to six, £10 adult, £5 children, with Glenda Hills on 01363 773669.
