THERE was a fantastic reception from streets lined with people when Cheriton Fitzpaine Carnival returned after a break of six years.
Local residents pulled together to stage the event again and they are to be congratulated on putting on a spectacular carnival.

The weather was perfect for the bi-annual event on Saturday, July 27.
Entrants in the classes gathered at Cheriton Fitzpaine Primary School for the judging which was completed by Charles Sheldrick, Hazel Evely, Alan Quick and Bill Tonkin.

They had a tough job and were full of praise for all who took part.
There were innovative and colourful costumes, tableau and walking entries plus vintage vehicles.
