LOOKING for fun things to do with your children this summer? Look no further!

Crediton Heart’s family-friendly programme of activities and shows promises something for everyone.

Running from August 8 to 17, the Heart Project has once again partnered with Crediton Arts Centre to deliver eight days of creative workshops, film screenings, theatre and music events.

This year’s programme builds on the success of summer workshops and activities held by the Crediton Heart Project and Crediton Arts Centre over the past two years.

Workshops will include pottery.

“We’re really excited to be delivering an even more varied programme this summer,” said Rosemary Stephenson, Chair of the Heart Project, a local charity working to increase opportunities and improve facilities for people in the Crediton area.

Taking place across three venues, with lots for all ages, the workshops allow participants to try their hand at all sorts of crafty fun activities from robot making to paper bead jewellery creation.

“We’re hoping parents and carers will have fun as well by joining in the activities with their children,” said Rosemary.  “We will also be running taking our workshops into the community to groups such as the Youth Club, The Turning Tides Project, Age Concern and Welcoming Refugees in Crediton.

‘We want to be sure that everyone gets a chance to be creative this summer,’

Film screenings include musical, comedy-drama “Wonka” and other-worldly fairytale, “The Shape of Water”.

There are also two evenings of music to enjoy – Heart Music showcases local musical talent at Crediton Arts Centre and another evening features local band, Moon Jazz, in the splendid setting of the parish church.

This year's festival culminates on Saturday, August 17 with “Arts in the Park”, a fantastic day of free activities held in Newcombes Meadow.

The day will feature a variety of engaging events to delight all ages, including street theatre performances, circus skills and drumming workshops.

Additionally, there will be a craft fair and food stalls, all in the park from 10am to 4pm.

Workshops are just £3 for under 16s, or £5 for 16+, Heart Music is £5 per ticket and Moon Jazz tickets are £8.
