BETWEEN November 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025, Downes Crediton Golf Club Ladies Section ran a Winter League on a Tuesday morning.

These fun competitions were held over nine holes and included a variety of different team formats.

Points were earned by all players taking part in the weekly events, prizes awarded for the best overall scores at the end of the league.

Congratulations to Anne Woodger, who was the overall winner this year.

Anne was presented with the trophy by June Scuse.

All the ladies taking part in these weekly events enjoyed their golf and there was a lot of positive feedback received.

The Tuesday roll ups continue through the Summer, and are suitable for ladies with any handicap. New members are very welcome to join and play.

As part of the regular social activities at Downes, the Winter Quiz league provided entertainment, nice food and good company during winter Friday evenings.

After the seasons’ keen, but lighthearted, competition the winning team, modestly named The Dream Team, were awarded the Winter Quiz Champions Trophy.

It was a convincing victory over six rounds of the quiz nights during the winter months.

The team consisted of Anne Woodger (Captain), Peter Woodger, Phil and Thea Durbin and John and Di Wilson. Anne Woodger received the trophy, presented by Debbie Blinkhorn.

Quiz Nights continue during the summer months, with the first being on Friday, April 25, starting at 7pm, in the clubhouse.

Non members are very welcome to join us. Teams can be up to a maximum of eight players.

As well as the quiz, the evening includes food, and costs just £10 per person.
