A CREDITON badminton player has returned from the Special Olympics GB National Badminton Competition for the South West and England with one Gold and one Silver medal.

Dee Weiner took part in the badminton tournament in Derbyshire during the weekend of October 26 and 27.

Dee explained: “I had the most amazing time catching up with friends from across the country and had loads of fun competing.

“I came away with a Gold Medal in the Ladies Singles in Division Two and I came away with a Silver Medal in the Ladies Doubles in Division One with my doubles partner Nikki from Cornwall.

“These events are so important to myself and everyone who has a learning disability.

“The special Olympics Nationals are Olympic standard events and the atmosphere was incredible.

“I was very lucky to have my coach Jake from Queens Badminton Club who came to coach me for the weekend, it was so much fun.”

Dee is an accomplished badminton player and has won many medals in the sport during the past 10 years.
