SATURDAY, February 11, saw Sandford First Team travel to Okehampton for its next Premier League encounter.

From the kick-off the away side went on the attack and, after 27 seconds, forced a corner from which Tudor Morgan-Huggett scored to make it 0-1 to Sandford.

Drafted into the team to replace injured keeper Matt Parsell, second team keeper Luke Knight was forced into action with two brilliant saves to keep Sandford's lead intact.

The away side missed further chances to increase their lead and with the home side coming more into the game on 40 minutes, sloppy play in the Sandford defence gave the ball to Okehampton who despatched into the net, 1-1.

Then, just before half-time, Okehampton increased their lead with a blistering shot that keeper Knight had no chance of saving, 2-1 at half-time.

The second half got under way with Sandford playing up the slope and with Okehampton more and more running the game there were few chances for the away side but on 51 minutes they had a goalbound shot saved.

A break down the Okehampton right wing saw a shot hitting the angle of the Sandford goal in the 62nd minute.

Then, with 68 minutes gone, an Okehampton forward ran on to a through ball and keeper Knight bravely dived at the oncoming forward's feet and got his hands to the ball, only to lose it in the collision.

This resulted in the ball breaking loose and Okehampton scoring their third goal, 3-1.

Sandford did have another free kick saved in the 79th minute and that was that, a very disappointing result coming off the back of February 4's 5-2 win.

This Saturday (February 18) the First Team are home to Colyton, KO 3pm.

The Second Team are away to Witheridge, KO 3pm.
