Sandford 0 - Beacon Knights 5
SANDFORD First team were at home to Beacon Knights who are currently second in Division Six.
The Knights kicked off and were the first to have an attempt at goal after two minutes, which went wide.
Sandford replied a minute later but their shot also went wide.
Six minutes later the game came to a stop for attention to a Knights player with a head injury, luckily he was OK.
Both sides had further attempts at goal and on 33 minutes the home side were fortunate not to go behind when two shots were blocked.
Then just before halftime the Knights broke away down the right wing and crossed the ball, which a Sandford defender attempted to clear, only to slice the ball past the keeper, 0-1 at halftime.
The second half saw Sandford playing towards the tennis courts end and on 56 minutes went two goals behind.
Lewis Cooke had come on at halftime to replace Dylan Spurway at left fullback.
On 65 minutes Sandford’s best chance of the game fell to winger Chris Hawkins who shot over from close range.
With 20 minutes to go Sam Reeves came on as replacement up front. Sandford, unfortunately tiring, conceded a further three goals in the last 10 minutes. The final score was Sandford 0 - Beacon knights 5.
There are three more matches left to play this season: Cheriton Fitzpaine, away on April 22; Ex International, away on April 26; Witheridge, home on April 30.
