CREDITON firefighters enjoyed an “excellent” training session on Tuesday, June 11.

Local company CMS Plumbing and Heating provided the venue for the drill, which the fire service said gave crews the chance to train in a “realistic” property-under-renovation scenario.

“Our incident commander committed two breathing apparatus wearers with one hose reel jet into the property,” a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“We used blanking masks for the crew to give the appearance of a heavily smoke-logged property.

“Crews located and extracted two casualties and completed a full search of the property.

“Realistic venues like this are really important to our crews, if you have a venue you would be willing to let us train in then please get in touch!”

Crediton Fire Station, which can be found on Charlotte Street in the town, holds its drill nights on Tuesdays at 7pm.
