THE Proms held on the lawns at Downes House in July 2024, which was jointly run by Crediton Town Band and Crediton Boniface Rotary, generated a profit of £2,000.

This was despite an England football match taking place at the same time.  Chilly weather and rain showers also reduced the audience.

Despite this, everyone had an enjoyable evening listening to the music and singing.

Crediton Boniface Rotary added £500 from monies raised from other events, held when Garry Adams was president, enabling President Fred Oliver to present Sarah Smith from Hospiscare with a cheque for £2,500.

The presentation was made at a band practice night so that band members would see the results of their, and Rotary’s, efforts.

The two organisations hope to make Proms at Downes a regular biannual event, which means that the next one will take place in the summer of 2026.
