PLANNING permission is being sought to convert four buildings at a former Blue Cross animal rehoming centre near Bickleigh into eight homes.

Dating from the 1980s, the buildings were once used as a reception, cattery and puppy unit, kennels and a cat isolation unit.

Separate permission was recently granted to turn the barn on the southern corner of the site into a home, next to which are two cottages.

If the plans are approved, the single-storey building once used as a reception would have two two-bedroom homes.

Similarly, the cattery and puppy unit would be transformed into two two-bed dwellings.

The kennels would become three four-bed homes, and the former cat isolation unit would become a single three-bed home.

Each new dwelling would have two car parking spaces and a bike store for up to four bicycles.
