A LOCAL mother and daughter, Jo and Gemma, opened a new café at the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre in Crediton on Wednesday, May 1.
The ribbon was cut to officially open the Dive In Café by Cllr David Wullf, Mid Devon District Council cabinet member for community and leisure.
The new cafe will provide visitors to the leisure centre with a range of quality food and drink.
Jo and Gemma both share a passion for great coffee and local produce.
With more than a decade of experience in the café industry between them, they bring a unique blend of creativity and expertise to the venture.
Jo, said: “The Dive In team are looking forward to making a big splash with our quality coffee and selection of local cakes and food.”
Gemma, added: “We will be serving breakfast, brunch and lunch including jacket potatoes, sandwiches, pastries and cakes.
“We will be partnering up with Crediton Coffee Company to serve you the very best in locally roasted coffee. Our aim is to use local produce to support our wonderful independent businesses wherever possible.”
To help celebrate this new exciting combination of health and fitness, local businesses and the local community, a 10 per cent discount was offered by Mid Devon Leisure throughout the day.
Recently installed spin bikes and cardio equipment upgrades could also be viewed, visitors offered the opportunity to try out Mid Devon Leisure's new top of the range equipment.
During the opening day a raffle was held in aid of Devon Air Ambulance and The Turning Tides Project.
A total of £100 was raised for each of the charities and some of those who went along on the day won some lovely prizes.
Among those who attended the opening was Brooke Graddon, a former Great Britain Olympic high-board diver.
Also present were leisure centre staff, Mid Devon District Councillors and a number of Mid Devon District Council staff.
It was the first time that a cafe has been open at the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre since the pandemic.
Dive In Café is open from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
