AN amazing response from the people of the parish and around helped Colebrooke Craft Fair be almost packed out on Saturday morning, May 7.
So much so that all the pulled pork baps had gone by 12.30pm but there was still an excellent selection of cakes through the afternoon.
Held to raise funds for the parish church, over the past few years a sound system with a loop system has been installed and new, deep red curtains made and put up in the church.
The stalls celebrated a big range of talent in the area including bespoke chocolates from Andrew King of North Tawton, paintings, greetings cards and a superb display by members of Yeoford Yarns.
This included a wonderful large quilt, tapestries, knitting, twiddle muffs and crochet, some items for sale. At present Yarns’ members meet once a month in Yeoford Community Hall. There is space for new members. To know more people should contact either 01363 84339 or 84750.
Members do cross stitch, embroidery, quilting, lace making, knitting and anything else creative.
There was jewellery made by Sarah Miller of Crediton and Ile Ashcroft of Colebrooke with her daughter. Ile is a herbalist and was happy to talk to people about remedies and recipes using herbs.
Other stallholders included Curworthy Cheese, water colours by Rachel, Jenni Pitts with a stall of the knitting and crochet she does mainly in the winter and the Plant Shed from Copplestone and Eggesford. Another stall was loaded with hand-made items.
Mark and Teresa of the New Inn at Coleford donated to the church the profit from the sale of the cider and soft drinks they had provided that day.
The craft fairs began in 2017, before that there had been one for Christmas and the village used to have a coffee morning with local crafters. It was every other year to begin with.
The next will be on Saturday, November 26. Anyone who would like to know more should, please, contact the organiser on 01363 84339.
