CREDITON’S award-winning independent, community owned bookshop, The Bookery, is continuing its evening Author Events on April 24 at 7pm welcoming not one, not two, but three crime writers who will be joining together to provide an interactive, high-paced evening of intrigue and entertainment.
For this unique event three very different crime writers, Orlando Murrin, Tina Orr Munro and Diane Jeffrey, all from the South West, are joining forces to bring you a riveting evening of murder, mayhem and mystery.
Together they will explore how they came up with their ideas, the ingredients of a compelling whodunit – and why they choose to set their books in the West Country.
This dastardly trio will be exploring various forms of crime stories from nail-biting psychological thrillers to gritty police procedurals, or cosy crime with the feelgood factor.
Everyone attending will automatically be entered into a free prize draw to win a £20 book voucher to spend in store.
Diane Jeffrey is a “USA Today” bestselling and award-winning author who has written seven psychological thrillers, all set in the West Country.
“The Crime Writer” is Diane's latest psychological thriller. It begins with the disappearance of a local councillor and mother of two, who was last seen alive at Wistpoundland Reservoir, on the rugged edges of Exmoor. Suspicion soon falls on her husband, a renowned crime writer. “The Guilty Mother”, Diane's third book, was a “USA Today” bestseller and her fourth novel, “The Silent Friend”, was a Karin Slaughter Killer Reads pick.
Diane grew up in North Devon but now lives and works as an English teacher in Lyon, France, with her husband and their three children, labrador and cat.
Tina Orr Munro was a Police Scenes of Crime Officer before retraining as a journalist and specialising in writing about police and crime.
Tina is the former editor of “Policing Insight” and continues to write for the police media. She has also contributed to “Writing” magazine on how to inject authenticity into a police procedural.
Her debut novel, “Breakneck Point”, a police procedural series about a police crime scene investigator called Ally Dymond, was a Karin Slaughter Killer Reads pick. This was followed by “Slaughterhouse Farm” and “Liars Island”.
Tina lives in North Devon and is currently working on her fourth novel in the series.
Orlando Murrin is the former editor of “Woman and Home” and “BBC Good Food”, and founder of “Olive” magazine.
He was a semi-finalist on Masterchef, has worked as a chef/hotelier and appeared on countless food and radio programmes. He has published six cookbooks and as a journalist, is a regular contributor to “Waitrose Weekend” and the “Telegraph”.
His debut crime novel, “Knife Skills for Beginners”, was shortlisted for the McDermid Debut Prize, and the sequel, “Murder Below Deck”, was recently published. He lives in Exeter and when not writing, tends his award-winning guerrilla garden and plays the piano.
Tickets £4. Diane, Tina and Orlando will be signing copies of their books at the end of the evening.
