AS part of a “Wedding” theme, children from Team One at Landscore Primary School took part in a mock wedding at Crediton Parish Church attended by a large number of guests.

In preparation for the mock wedding the children learned about wedding dresses, veils and accessories from Liz Rafferty of The Ivory Secret, and about wedding flowers from Donna Lamb of Susan’s Flower Shop. Susan’s kindly provided the bride’s bouquet and the bridegroom’s button hole for the mock wedding which was organised by teacher Linda Williamson. The cake was made by teaching assistant Becci Kibbey.

The children also learned to waltz in preparation for the mock reception which was held at the Boniface Centre.

Teachers picked names out of a hat to choose the bride, Breya Davey and the groom Bradley Linton as well as the other main roles for the wedding. The other 90 children were dressed as bridesmaids and pageboys.

The Rev Preb Nigel Guthrie enjoyed officiating the mock wedding in which the children wrote the vows including, “I will share my toys.”

The wedding was inspired by the painting “Mr and Mrs Andrews” by Thomas Gainsborough.
