CREDITON Town Council is co-ordinating efforts by local organisations, groups, businesses and charities, to provide warm spaces where residents can get together this winter.

The project recognises the impact on the whole community of the current economic climate, particularly rising fuel bills, and the lockdowns of previous winters.

Warm Spaces provide residents with somewhere to keep warm, enjoy company and, in some cases, offer advice about where to access support if struggling to cope with the cost of living.

Crediton Library is open five days-a-week (closed Wednesdays and Sundays), offering free WiFi and newspapers.

Thanks to the generosity of Crediton Morrisons, free tea and coffee is now available at the library and a number of other venues offering Warm Spaces within the town.

The Station Tea Rooms run by The Turning Tides Project is offering hot drinks, food, mobile telephone charging and company from 10am to 3pm each Monday.  It also has a Pay It Forward scheme.

On a Tuesday there is a Drop-In Coffee Morning from 10am to 11.30am in the Boniface Centre.

On a Tuesday afternoon, anyone who is in need is welcome to go to the St Boniface Roman Catholic Church for a Drop-In and Hot Meal between 2pm and 6pm (free hot meal at 4.45pm).

On a Wednesday the St Boniface Roman Catholic Church offers free tea and cake between 2pm and 4pm.

On Thursdays Coffee and Company is offered to all over 50s between 10am and 11.30am at Crediton Congregational Church.

Also on a Thursday, Crediton Congregational Church offers a Hot Lunch, open to all, between 12 noon and 2pm.

On Fridays Crediton Methodist Church

offers a Warm Room and Refreshments from 10am to 12 noon.

Each Saturday, Crediton Methodist Church offers a Drop-In Coffee Morning from 10am to 11.30am.

Details of the scheme are available on the Crediton Town Council website: www.crediton.gov.uk .

Information will be regularly updated and any business or organisation is invited to contact Crediton Town Council, including businesses who would like to take part in the “Pay It Forward” scheme.
