TODAY, throughout the world there are atrocities happening, not least in the place where Jesus grew up.
Two thousand years ago throughout the world there were atrocities happening, not least in the place where Jesus lived his earthly life.
There was oppression from the Romans, there was greed, corruption, evil, the misuse of power. Sound familiar?
Whether or not you believe in, The Easter Story, it is historical fact that Jesus lived and walked the lands of Palestine, Israel, Jordan and the like, professing to be the Son of God.
Leading a sinless life, showing kindness, love and compassion to the weak, sick and poor.
It is historical fact that Jesus died the horrific death of crucifixion, the worst possible form of death.
This event brings Christians today to the point of remembering and acknowledging the first Good Friday, good, because we believe that it all happened for the sake of you and me.
Two thousand years ago the crowds looked on, some recognised Jesus as the Messiah, but their hopes were dashed when he was put to death.
Some simply did not believe whatsoever, but some did believe, giving eye accounts, then witnessing by forming the early church which stands the test of time growing worldwide.
Today, many continue to look on, some only see Jesus as a good man, some do not believe at all but still choose to celebrate Easter, looking on from the sidelines.
Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God, sent to lead us by example, demonstrating a kinder way of living, a way of love and truth, showing compassion towards all, especially the weak and vulnerable.
Believing that he suffered and died on that cross for the likes of you and me that our sins may be forgiven.
As Christians journey through Holy Week when we reach Good Friday it is a yearly reminder of our commitment to attempt to be more like Jesus in our day to day living, knowing and understanding that as we continually mess up in our lives, we are loved, valued and offered a fresh start.
If you are one of those watching and looking on from the sidelines, I pray that God, in His Almighty power, will reveal Himself to you, for nothing I can say or do will make any difference. But God himself has the power to transform your life.
A God who created all things, look around at all the new life springing up, this did not simply happen by accident which incidentally, no scientist can disprove, no matter how hard they try.
The Easter season lasts for 50 days, do get in contact or go along to any of the local churches where you will find a warm welcome, and an opportunity to chat, if you so wish.
Easter Blessings to you all
