10am to 12 noon - Plant Sale and Coffee Morning, Boniface Centre, in aid of Crediton Parish Church.

1pm - Sellers to arrive for Car Boot Sale, Spreyton Village Hall, indoors and outside, buyers from 2pm to 4pm, in aid of hall funds, stall bookings on 07946 662582.

7.30pm - Skittles Evening, Sampford Courtenay Village Hall, £2 entrance, bring a plate of food to share and your own drinks, all welcome, raffle in aid of Bondleigh defibrillator battery.

7pm - Talk on the History of St Lawrence Chapel by Local Historian Tony Gale, at the Chapel, donations in aid of the Chapel and to Hospiscare.

12 noon - VE Day 80th Anniversary Street Party, bring and share 40s party food, Poughill Village Hall, memorabilia display, photos.

TUESDAY 6

2.30pm - The Friends of St Lawrence Chapel Annual General Meeting, at St Lawrence Chapel.

3.30pm - Afternoon Author event, Hugh Mellor presenting his compelling and most recent book Devon Dead and Buried at the Bookery, all welcome, no charge, tea and biscuits provided.

7pm - Crediton Town Band play at Sandford Parish Hall as part of Sandford VE Day 80th anniversary.

THURSDAY 8

9am - VE Day in North Tawton, flag raising at the park and parade of poppy wreaths to the War Memorial at the Cemetery; 9.30am - Speech and Okehampton Silver Band, one minutes’ silence.

9.30am - VE Day 80th Anniversary in Crediton, Flag Raising at the War Memorial; 12.30pm to 2pm - Cream Tea at the Boniface Centre, £10, book on 01363 773717, live jazz, Crediton in WWII slideshow, 1940’s memorabilia, The Way Things Was.

7pm - for 7.30pm, Supporting Swifts in Towns and Villages, a Sustainable Crediton illustrated talk with Edward Mayer of Swift Conservation. Crediton Congregational Church, 98 High Street. Free admission. Refreshments available.

7.30pm to 10pm - VE Day in Coldridge, Commemoration and Beacon Lighting, Coldridge Village Hall, pasty supper and bar, beacon at 9.30pm approximately, Coldridge Sunshine Singers.

11am to 3pm - VE Day in Crediton, A Very Vintage Picnic, Newcombes Meadow, in the bandstand, Crediton Town Band, Morris Dancing, CODS and friends, Swing 3 Jazz Trio. Falconry, barrel organ, vintage engines, balloon modeller, bar, food and craft stalls, youth activities, Scouts, Army Cadets, Lions, organised by Crediton Town Council.

SUNDAY 11

2pm to 5pm - and Sunday, June 15, Open Garden, 4 Golden Joy, Crediton, EX17 1EA, in aid of Hospiscare, plant stall, tombola, refreshments, teas and cake, all welcome, no dogs.
