EXCITEMENT is building at Cheriton Fitzpaine which will be holding a Carnival again this year after a six-year gap.
The last village carnival was held in 2018 and this year’s event will take place on Saturday, July 27.
Currently there are six young people, five girls and one boy, selling raffle tickets with the aim of becoming the Carnival King or Queen.
The King or Queen will be crowned at a ceremony at Cheriton Fitzpaine Parish Hall on Saturday, July 6.
Village organisations and groups are currently busy preparing their tableaux for the Carnival Procession, which gathers before 6pm on July 27, the parade kicking off at 7pm.
It will include music and a fire engine from Crediton, vintage car, steel band, horse drawn “Royalty” carriage, alongside the many vehicle and walking entries.
There will be a selection of hot and cold food/drink vendors from 6pm.
There will also be live music and a disco.
If you would like to enter a tableaux in the procession, or volunteer to help on Carnival Day, or her in any other way, please contact Anna Yeandle by emailing: [email protected] or leave a message on the Cheriton Fitzpaine Carnival 2024 Facebook page.
