A SPECIAL church service to mark 100 years of Colebrooke branch of the Mothers’ Union was held at Colebrooke Parish Church.

The service, attended by members, former members and those from neighbouring branches, was conducted by Rev Janet May.

Following the service, thanks was extended by the branch president, Valerie Pennington to Rev May, organist Margaret Down and all who made the day possible.

She said it was Nora Cowper-Pratt, wife of the then vicar, who formed the branch 100 years ago.

A celebration cake was cut by Priscilla Crocker, who had been a member for 50 years.Mrs Pennington had been a member for 49 years.

A celebration lunch was also enjoyed in the church.
