AN evening to honour local young people who have contributed positively to their community has been held in Crediton.

Lily-Ann Palfrey, Rhiannon Llewellyn-Bishop, Emily Every, Alex Caldwell, Jesse Hawkins, Francis Kelly and Frankie Farrow each achieved a Lions Young Leaders in Service Bronze Award.

The Lions Club International award recognises young people between the ages of eight and 18. To get the bronze, an individual must complete between 25 and 49 hours of service in their community.

President of Crediton and District Lions Club Ann Whitehouse praised each recipient and highlighted their commitment, dedication and unique personalities. They were presented with a certificate, wristband and badge.

Crediton Youth Service certificates were also given to Mia Morgan, Ramona Farrow and Kacey Osborne for their contributions to the junior youth club.

Guests were entertained following the presentations with live music and a sing-along featuring Bohemian Rhapsody by 1970s rock band Queen.
