A LOCAL housebuilder and major employer in the South West has announced its sponsorship of Sidmouth RFC for the next three years.
Persimmon Homes South West will support the club’s junior section through financial sponsorship and has also purchased new post protectors and touchline flags for use by the senior teams, funded through the company’s longstanding Community Champions initiative.
Founded in 1884, Sidmouth RFC has a rich heritage rooted in its early beginnings on Coburg Field and later its permanent home at Blackmore Field.
As one of the pioneers of junior rugby in Devon since 1971, the club has become a cornerstone of the community, fostering talent across boys’, girls’, and senior teams.
From its golden eras in the late 19th century and post-war years to its modern success, Sidmouth RFC remains a proud symbol of rugby excellence and community spirit.
Persimmon South West – a five-star housebuilder – has a strong presence with a number of quality housing developments across the region, particularly in East Devon.
Sidmouth RFC’s Director of Sponsorships and Corporate Partnerships, Stuart Nairne-Clark, said: “We’re delighted to have Persimmon Homes South West on board as a key sponsor for the club and our junior section.
“Their support, including the provision of essential equipment, ensures we can continue to nurture young talent and provide a top-class rugby environment for our players across the club.
“The next three years are important for the club, and with partners like Persimmon South West, we are confident we can achieve our ambitions for growth and development, both on and off the field.”
The funding comes as part of Persimmon South West’s Community Champions initiative, which donates £24,000 annually to good causes and organisations in the areas in which it operates.
