AS the season starts to draw to a close at Crediton Youth FC there was lots of midweek action for many sides.

The U12s finished their league season with a 5-1 home victory over Exmouth United.

Goals from Hayden Richardson Miller, Josh Poole, Jac Caruana, Luis Matthews and Will Matten guarantees them runners up spot, but they must wait to see if Moors Youth drop points in their remaining games to hand them the league title.

It was an exciting game for U13s as the two top sides went head-to-head at Lords Meadow.

Jake Stagg with a hat-trick saw them edge out their guests 3-1 and give them some breathing space at the top of the table. But a penalty save from the Crediton keeper Will Gale helped them on the night.

The U14s lost out 2-1 away to Twyford Spartans with Daniel Burgess getting Crediton’s goal.

It was also an away fixture for the U18s who eventually lost out 5-2 against Culm Sampford. Lewis Heywood and Sam Price got the consolation goals.

Friday night saw the U14 girls host Central City in their round of Champions League fixtures.

Goals from Evie Lewis and Ruby Turner put the Crediton girls in front, but a late goal from the Exeter side saw the points shared.

The game itself was another great advertisement for girls football.

Saturday was another busy morning at Lords Meadow.

The U14s gained revenge on Twyford Spartans as the two sides met again. Zac Mildon with a hat-trick and a Jayden Friend goal saw them overcome their guests and maintain their push for second place.

It was a tough day for the U11s who hastily reversed their fixture against Broadclyst to Lords Meadow to allow the game to go ahead.

They played their part in a very competitive first half and conceded two goals just before the break.

Broadclyst produced a strong second half performance and were ruthless in front of goal to run away with second half.

Also at home were the U9s who hosted sides from Okehampton.

It was two wins and two defeats for them on some heavy pitches.

But their coaches were again pleased with some great determination and battling performances.

The U16s recent good run came to an end at Newton St Cyres as they went down 5-1 with Owen Jones getting their goal.

It was a close affair for the U15s who were edged out 3-2 way at West Exe Youth. Alfie Poole and Jack Brimilcombe on target for them.

Sunday saw the U14 girls in action again, away at Torquay United Community Sports Yellows. They lost out 5-1 with Martha Brotherton getting the consultation goal.

The U12 girls hosted South Molton and Georgetown, a touring side from Merthyr Tydfil. All the sides played against each other.

Some brilliant football was played, with all the girls leaving with smiling faces.

Amongst the goalscorers for the home side were Ellen Beswick, Eva, Eve Broome, Gracie Clements and Lexi Mullen Penney.

In the afternoon some of the U8 girls and Wild Cats were match-day mascots for the Crediton United ladies team for their fixture against Exeter University.

The girls enjoyed their afternoon and as well as being mascots they joined in the pre-match warm-up and went on the pitch at half-time. They also saw the ladies team runout 7-0 winners against the students.
