CREDITON Youth Football Club’s annual Six-a-side tournament, kindly sponsored by Crediton Dairy, was recently held at Lords Meadow.
This year saw record entries over the two days with 180 teams from all over the South West descending on Crediton, for what many say is one of the best tournaments in the region.
With more than 1,400 players and their parents to cater for, it takes a massive team effort behind the scenes for the tournament to run so smoothly.
Luckily, the rain stayed away and both afternoons even saw bright sunshine.
Martin Daniel Club, Chairman, said: “It has been really great to have received so many positive compliments about this year’s event. As always we are extremely grateful to all our sponsors and local companies and organisations that help us to put the tournament on.
“A massive thank you must go to all the volunteers who put so much effort into making it such a success.
“One of the major highlights of the tournament was Crediton Youth Under Nine’s making it through to the Under Nine’s final.
“Despite the support of a large crowd behind them, the Crediton side lost 2-1 to Braunton Youth A side who scored a late extra time winner to win the game.”
