THERE is shock in the cricket community after Bridestowe and Belstone Cricket Club was broken into on Friday, March 21.

The club said: “With the upcoming season just weeks away, we are gutted to announce that on Friday night our Bridestowe ground was broken into.

“Four locks were cut and several pedestrian mowers, scarifiers, and a generator were stolen.

“As a small village club with limited resources, this will put a huge strain on our ability to prepare our ground ahead of the coming season.

“Although the equipment is covered by insurance, we cannot guarantee the amount will cover the full extent of our losses. If anyone is able to help in any way, please contact: [email protected] .

“We are aware of at least three other local sports clubs broken into over the weekend.

“If anyone in the area has seen any suspicious behaviour over the last few days, please contact us so we can update our log with the police.”
