CREDITON and District Swimming Club's 2024 Presentation Evening was held in the Boniface Centre on Saturday, January 26.
Swimmers, parents and officials were welcomed by Club President, Peter Brewer, who explained that the Chairman, Paul Saunders, was away on business and sent his good wishes to everyone.
The age group trophies were awarded by Coach Jane Brimacombe and Development Coach Rob Brimacombe.
In all, 25 trophies had been won for first, second and third which included a medal, with other swimmers in the Championships receiving a medal.
During the Championships, which took place in November and December, four Club Championship records were set and six Devon County Qualifying times were achieved.
Following a break for refreshments including burgers and hot dogs, the presentation of special trophies took place.
The girls 800m event was won by Chelsea Pincott with the Brimacombe Heard Trophy for 13 years and under going to Ava Grashoff.
The boys 1500m event was won by Sebastian Hemmings with the John Verrier Memorial Trophy for boys 13 years and under being won by Archie Crome.
The most improved swimmer trophies were awarded to Ella Tucker and Archie Crome chosen and presented by Jane Brimacombe.
The Development Squad Swimmer of the Year trophies, chosen and presented by Rob Brimacombe, went to Ava Grashoff and Thomas Perry.
The Junior Squad Swimmers of the Year Trophies, chosen and presented by Jane Brimacombe, went to Isla Harland and Sebastian Hemmings. The Masters Squad Swimmer of the Year was Lizzie Hustlewaite, chosen and presented by Jane Brimacombe.
The Young Volunteer Award was presented by Rob Brimacombe to Sebastian Hemmings.
The final award for the evening The Chairman’s Trophy, chosen by the Club Chairman, went to the club's hard working new treasurer, Natalie Rees and was presented by Peter Brewer.
Thanks were then given to committee members, coaches, team manager, officials and helpers at events and competitions.
July 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the Crediton and District Swimming Club being formed (a year after the new pool was opened) and it is hoped that this will be celebrated during the year.
A quiz is being organised and held at the Boniface Centre on March 2, with teams of up to six being invited to take part. Further details can be obtained from Caroline Hemmings, email: [email protected] .
