TWO brothers from Yeoford who successfully crossed the English Channel by stand-up paddleboard for charity are awaiting confirmation they have set a new world record.

Pharmacist Dave Masson, 36, and osteopath Josh Masson, 31, set off from Dover on Wednesday, June 12 at 11.11am and arrived on the French coast near Calais just over five hours later at 4.21pm.

The pair, who went to Queen Elizabeth's Community College in Crediton, are hoping to have set the record for the fastest Channel crossing by stand-up paddleboard. Guinness World Records will confirm if they have done so at a later date.

Dave, who now lives outside Chudleigh, and Josh, who lives in Crediton, have raised £3,608 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

They chose the hospital, which is one of the top five children’s hospitals in the world, as Dave had groundbreaking open-heart surgery there when he was just two days old.
