MORCHARD Bishop Bowling Club President, Keith Partridge, opened the green to begin the season on a hot and sunny afternoon on Saturday, April 15.

It was 40 years ago that the Club was established and a cake was cut to mark the occasion.

In May 2024, the Club will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the green.

Keith was one of the founding members of the club and was its first captain.

Two other founding members were present to see the green opened on April 15, Gillian Gunn and Annie Robinson.

The current club captain, Brian Poole, was Master of Ceremonies for the green opening and the customary “spider” competition which followed.

The winner was Edwin Hutchings.

Afterwards members enjoyed playing on the green, which looked to be in an excellent condition despite recent heavy rainfall.

Club chairman is Ron Mansell and Ladies Captain and Secretary is Steph Warren.
