A SECOND guided walk on the Prayer Book Rebellion is set to be held in Crediton.
The topic this time will be what happened in the town after a battle near Exeter almost five centuries ago.
“On August 16, 1549 a royalist army stayed overnight in Crediton,” a spokesperson said.
“They were pursuing the remnants of the rebel army they had crushed in a battle near Exeter.
“Hundreds – possibly thousands – of defeated combatants had fled west. The royalists were hunting them down.
“What must that have been like? On the 475th anniversary of that day, we will walk through the town, looking at what we know about the Prayer Book Rebellion, and how it affected local people and places.”
Participants should meet at Crediton Museum at 7pm on Friday, August 16 for the one-mile walk.
Spaces are limited. Tickets can be booked by emailing [email protected] or at the museum.
