POLICE are appealing for witnesses of a head-on collision near Tiverton that left a woman in hospital. 

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A396 at Cove at around 4.25pm on Thursday, August 1. The crash involved a Volkswagen Caddy and a BMW. 

One of the vehicles left the road and ended up in a ditch, and the fire service had to cut the driver free. 

A woman in her 40s from Tiverton was taken to hospital with serious injuries. 

“The road was closed whilst an investigation took place,” a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said. 

“Officers from the roads policing team wish to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.”
