MAGISTRATES have allowed police to keep a murder suspect in custody for another 36 hours following the death of a man in Brampford Speke. 

Officers arrested the 36-year-old man from London after a 64-year-old man died in the village on Wednesday, July 31. 

The force was called to Sandy Lane at 8.50pm to reports a man had been stabbed inside a house.

Emergency services tried to save his life, but he died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. 

Following reports another man had left the scene, officers carried out searches and arrested him after finding him in a nearby house. 

“Enquiries into this death are continuing,” Detective Inspector Guy Biggar of Devon and Cornwall Police said. 

“We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could aid our investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened. 

“This is being treated as an isolated matter and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to this incident. 

“A police cordon is expected to remain in place at the scene and members of the public will see a heightened police presence in the area.”
