PUPILS in Years One and Two at Landscore Primary School celebrated the end of a half-term topic with a Superhero Day.
There were some great costumes including fictional superheroes, sports personalities and superheroes from our NHS.
The theme began with the children thinking about why they were "super". They then looked at real life superheroes.
Local real life superheroes kindly filmed video clips for the children to watch and they answered questions about their jobs.
The story "Supertato" was shared. The story is about a spud who fulfils his destiny as a supermarket superhero when the veggie aisle is thrown into turmoil by an evil pea.
The children were really enthusiastic about sharing the Supertato story and it inspired them to design and make their own fruit and vegetable heroes to feature in a new Supertato adventure.
The children then acted this out using puppets and finally wrote up their stories.
Then on the last day of half-term the children and staff dressed up as superheroes.
Miss Coney, Year Two teacher said: “We’ve had really good fun this half term thinking about what makes people super and real life superheroes.
"We’ve also created some unusual vegetable superheroes using vegetables from aubergines to pumpkins. The enthusiasm of the children has been brilliant and we are looking forward to starting a new topic after the half term break.”
