AFTER encountering the road closure at Nomansland due to an accident and a detour, members of Crediton Walk and Talk eventually arrived at Stockleigh Pomeroy to begin our walk which took us down across the A3072 to a sunken track which led up to open fields and a gentle climb to Chilton.
From here we followed the road downward to Westward Farm and crossed over the main road again to walk through fields and a lane to Stockleigh Wood and Parsonage Copse with its sharp decent back to the transport.
Stopping at the climb to the woods for a break gave a distant view towards Shobrooke.
Crediton Walk and Talk group meet fortnightly at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre at 9.45am.
Walks start from the Leisure Centre or nearby villages and take around 90 minutes, covering about three miles, but this does not include travelling times.
Anyone is welcome and walks are free to join. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome, as long as they are kept on a short lead.
The next walk is on Friday, August 18.
