THE Silverton Neighbourhood Plan has become the fourth to be approved in Mid Devon following its referendum held on February 29.
The referendum results recorded 90.53 per cent of votes in favour of the neighbourhood plan.
Voters were asked the question: “Do you want Mid Devon District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Silverton to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
The Silverton Neighbourhood Plan now forms part of the statutory development plan for the Silverton area, alongside the Mid Devon Local Plan and the Devon Waste and Minerals Plans.
It carries full weight for guiding planning applications submitted to the Council for determination and the decisions made on these.
The plan will formally be adopted at a meeting of the Council on April 24.
The Silverton Neighbourhood Plan is published on Mid Devon District Council’s website.
