MID Devon District Councillor Mrs Judi Binks has written to Devon County Council (DCC) about the continuing situation of surface flood water in the centre of Kennerleigh, which was first reported to a DCC officer on December 14.
Mrs Binks, who is a local resident, said that rain water has been unable to drain away owing to blocked gulleys which need clearing.
In her correspondence with DCC she says that the safety of pedestrians is an issue because: “…they are forced to walk in the middle of the road towards oncoming traffic round a blind corner to avoid the flooding on both sides, or, to risk getting drenched and mud splattered by splash back from passing traffic”.
She added that sales at Kennerleigh Shop and Post Office had dropped as a result of large puddles preventing access.
