EVEN though there were fewer daffodils than usual at Tedburn St Mary Spring Flower Show, it was daffodils that took the Best in Show shield. Grown by Martyn Rich, he had several varieties in the one vase.

Oddly, a large number of camellia were entered compared to the usual display, 22 altogether this year with the winner being Silver Celebration grown by Marie Finlinson.

The cup for gaining most points went to show secretary Jackie Titchen and the children’s cup was won by Izzy. Last autumn all 97 pupils of Tedburn School were given a daffodil bulb. Most were now in flower and were entered in the show.

Easter cards had been entered by the children of Tedburn playgroup Sarah’s School and from Whimple School.
Winners among the playgroup were Laila, Harry, and T and J Titchin and Rosie. For Whimple winners were S Munday, Alice and Harry.

Among the stalls were plants and seeds and Easter ideas that included felted bunnies.
There was a good choice of cakes, tea or coffee and a raffle.
