GAINING a reputation as pothole alley, a particularly vicious pothole on the road between Crediton and Yeoford has claimed more victims.
One driver lost both front tyres at the same time. Not many days later, a cyclist came off his bike and was taken to hospital by ambulance with head and leg injuries.
Not having any mobile signal was no help, one lady walked to the top of the hill before she found a signal to phone for help when she lost a tyre.
This is the pothole, or patch of potholes, that cannot be avoided across the road at Moorlake, at the bottom of the first hill out of town on that road.
Crediton Hamlets Parish Council has been trying to get repairs to the road there for at least a couple of years, many have reported that patch on Devon County Council’s pothole website.
These are not the only “good” ones that really are tooth jarring to fall into, several have now got to the stage where it is not possible to creep round them, you just have to rock on.
It is understood that several people who has lost tyres and other damage have tried to get compensation from the county council but have got nowhere.
With more glamping and such being created, one can’t help wondering what the state of the roads might do for local businesses.
There has been talk by some of not paying part if not all the council tax because of the state of the roads.
