ON Sunday, June 9 at 10.30am, family, friends and colleagues of Rod Brookes-Hocking will gather in the Town Square to raise 24 new flags in his memory.
A familiar face around Crediton, Rod was a key influence in establishing many Crediton traditions, including the flags in our High Street, Shakespeare in the Square and the Town Square itself.
When he died in August 2022, there was an overwhelming call from those he loved, knew and worked with for a project in his memory.
It was decided that a flag project would be ideally suited, with flags designed to depict Rod's projects, productions, passions and key roles.
Through crowdfunding and donations from his friends and colleagues, 24 flags were designed and created at workshops led by Charlotte Turner.
These flags shall be hung in the Town Square at relevant events and create a lasting memory of someone who contributed so much to the cultural heritage of Crediton.
