MID Devon Housing recently joined a national campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB); encouraging communities to take a stand against ASB and to highlight the actions that can be taken by those experiencing it.
A special neighbourhood walkabout took place in a Tiverton estate with Neighbourhood Officers, Police, local Councillors and the Street Scene team offering a hands-on approach to addressing community concerns.
Tenants were able to address concerns within their community and speak directly to their Neighbourhood Officer and local policing team.
There was also a briefing on Wednesday, November 20, providing an in-depth look at the powers available to tackle ASB and how councillors can help to foster safer, stronger communities across Mid Devon.
A street surgery with Cullompton Police was postponed due to the snow, however a new date has been arranged; Thursday, December 5, 3pm to 4pm outside Cullompton Tesco. Pop by to speak with your housing or policing team if you have any neighbourhood concerns.
Councillor Simon Clist, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Housing and Property Services, said: “Tackling anti-social behaviour is about building trust and fostering a sense of community. By engaging directly with residents, we can create environments where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.
“We understand that reporting anti-social behaviour can sometimes be daunting but Mid Devon Housing, along with our partners, is committed to guiding and supporting tenants through the process, ensuring their voices are heard and effective action is taken.
“Together, we can create stronger, safer communities where our residents are happy and proud to live!”
Any tenant experiencing anti-social behaviour should in the first instance use Mid Devon District Council’s ASB Toolkit which provides advice on what can be done.
Anti-social behaviour can also be reported to Mid Devon District Council by calling 01884 255255, by emailing [email protected] or by filling out an online form which can be found via the website: www.middevon.gov.uk .
If you witness a crime or emergency, report it to the police by calling 999 or for non-urgent incidents call 101.
If you have previously reported anti-social behaviour, please let MDDC know what you thought of the process via MDDC survey so that it can continue to improve the experience.
