DECEMBER marks the 50th anniversary of the Crediton Courier newspaper and to celebrate the occasion, an exhibition is running throughout the month at Crediton Library.
The exhibition, put together by Editor Alan Quick, includes a wall display and items in a display cabinet.
The first issue of the Courier, when it was monthly, was published in December 1974 and a copy is included in the display alongside other copies of the newspaper which marked significant occasions such as the first fortnightly and weekly issues.
Items from the Courier’s history including old photographs and old technology once used to produce the newspaper are also included.
The life of the former Editor, Sue Read, who sadly passed away in November, is also marked in the display.
There are images of former staff and other memorabilia from half a century of reporting community news in the area.
Crediton Library is open from 9am to 6pm on Mondays and Fridays, 9am to 5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9am too 1pm on Saturdays.
It is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays.
It is located at Belle Parade, Crediton (EX17 2AA).
The exhibition can be viewed during the opening times.
The Crediton Courier runs a Drop-In at Crediton Library from 2pm to 3pm each Thursday.
Anyone who would like to meet a representative from the Courier, to talk about a story or advertisement or has a query can call in during that time.
Small items of post, letters, advertisements, posters, magazines, competition entries, etc, can also be left at Crediton Library for the Crediton Courier.
