MANY club members will be saddened to learn that former player Peter Setter has died at the age of 90.

He was one of our oldest surviving former players who made his debut for the club when he left Haywards School in 1950 and hung up his boots in 1969. During that time Peter did have two seasons playing for Exeter and missed an entire season when on National Service.

Peter was a larger-than-life character and could play in almost any position on the pitch and still holds the club record of having scored 2,113 points and this was when a try was worth three points!

Most of his points came from his remarkable kicking ability. From 436 games, he scored 139 tries, kicked 398 conversions and 286 penalties and 14 drop goals.

It is unlikely that record will be broken in the near future.

Our thoughts are with Geraldine and family at this sad time.
