CREDITON restaurant owner and councillor Jim Cairney hosted a "thank you" dinner before Christmas.
Mr Cairney, who is a Crediton Town and Mid Devon District Councillor, hosted the event at his restaurant "Cairney’s, to thank those who helped with a food project which fed hundreds of people during lockdown.
Others who helped with the project or who helped others were also invited.
Jim explained: "At the height of lockdown we were supplying 200 meals a month either directly or through Crediton Foodbank.
"Peck and Strong supplied foodstuffs, Andy Gray of MC Kelly supplied minced meat and I made cottage pies from the ingredients.
"The mince Andy supplied was venison, which is lower in fat and cholesterol.
"The Foodbank distributed meals with the then Community Champion at Crediton Tesco Andrew Drayton.
"We made everyone a main course and a pudding.
"Erin of Baobab Cafe did a lot of roast dinners and this certainly helped to support a lot more people.
“Crediton Town Council staff and councillors were very supportive and I must also thank the ‘Crediton Courier’ for all it did to support people during lockdown.
“It was great to be able to invite those who did so much and to say thank you to them.”
