AGE Concern Crediton and District held its annual general meeting at the Lady Mills Centre in Deep Lane.
During the meeting there was a presentation to the outgoing chair Jenny Berg for her service to the organisation, the last five as chair and prior four years as a trustee.
Incoming chair, Phil Hutchens, thanked Jenny for her service and presented her with an engraved vase.
In addition, Gary Adams from the Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface, presented Age Concern Crediton with a donation of £500.
Mr Hutchens said that the charity has progressed with several changes at management level, thanking Chelsea, Angela and Melissa for their hard work behind the scenes.
He thanked the treasurer for his long and continuing service and Kate, Charleen and Sandra, and John Musty for the amount of hours and voluntary time they give the charity, plus the loyal team of staff, drivers, volunteers and helpers.
He thanked Carri for covering for Chelsea while on maternity leave, and for work on the constitution, working with Trustee Philip Wolfgang.
He thanked all the volunteers and staff who support the clients and spoke of the need to maintain what he described as a service of “need” in Crediton and surrounding areas.
He spoke of financial pressures and the need for fundraising, grants and donations to ensure its future and the support it gives to so many in an affordable way.
Mr Hutchens said that the trustees can help with increasing the awareness of services offered and help to micromanage the financial aspects and direction of the charity.
He concluded: “Thank you one and all for the outstanding service you have given in the past, but more importantly moving the charity on a sustainable journey forward.”
The meeting concluded with a talk by Alan Quick, editor of the Crediton Courier, about “Fifty Years of the Crediton Courier”.
