MID Devon District Council is reviewing the Local Plan for development in Mid Devon over the next 15-20 years, including the Core Strategy, the Allocations and Infrastructure Development Plan Document and development management policies – and already concerns have been raised about future plans for more housing for Crediton.
Newton St Cyres Parish Council submitted a response in the first stage of consultation on the Plan to MDDC.
David Baker, chairman, wrote: "My Parish Council have consistently raised concerns about the impact that the developments north of the parish have on our parish, particularly with the increase in traffic and traffic pollution.
"We would ask that you give consideration to spending some of any Community Infrastructure Levy money generated in Crediton to improve the road infrastructure through the village and including Castlands and Half Moon. In particular, the erection of pedestrian traffic lights in the village and traffic calming systems through Castlands and Half Moon."
In his letter, Mr Baker adds comments about extending village boundaries to allow small development to take place.
