ON Thursday, February 1 Crediton Library celebrated "Harry Potter Book Night: Fantastic Beasts", with a magical evening event.

Crediton Library was transformed into Hogwarts during the afternoon and staff dressed up as characters from the "Harry Potter" series.

Then at 5pm children arrived dressed as wizards, witches and even a dragon.

The sorting hat put them into houses and then they had a potions class, played the Basilisk game and went on a dragon hunt.

Tracey Norman, author and actress, volunteered for the evening and read from her favourite "Harry Potter" book.

Andrew Drayton, Crediton Tesco community liaison officer, also volunteered and took along two book prizes for the fancy dress competition and chocolate for all children as they left.

Crediton Library is one of 50 Devon Libraries run by charity Libraries Unlimited.

"Harry Potter Book Night" is just one of the events in the wide Libraries Unlimited cultural offering.
